Hamilton and Wikipedia

I admire how some swedish writers manage to create stories that put Sweden in the middle of the map of international politics.

Sweden’s response to James Bond is Carl Hamilton – originally created by Jan Guillou. Latest addition to the storyline is the movie: Hamilton – I nationens intresse, which puts Hamilton in the middle of storyline involving Sweden’s and Finland’s roles as peace negotiators, private militaries, fight against terrorism, weapon exports and greed.

Besides being a rather good action thriller storyline brings up nicely — actually better than it’s Hollywood counterparts — points why to require more international transparency and openness in government and business.

And let’s not forget the Julian Assange saga, which ties Sweden once again into the plot of numerous international conspiracies – but this time in real life.
