Well to be honest I can’t yet be a true aficionado, but rather a fan and avid consumer of of sparkling wines, but let’s not let that spoil a good title for my posting. To become aficionado I should be much more serious about my tasting hobby and try to gain more knowledge about the subject – rather than just pleasurable experiences like now.
Anyways these days our local alcohol monopoly has brought a rather surprising ( as in surprisingly good ) cheap champagne into their collection. Louis Massing Brut Réserve is by no means a bad champagne – nor a bad wine. Even though it’s taste is a little too light for my taste, it is really good alternative for any sparkling wine in similar price category in Alko’s catalog.
However for today we are going to open something different. A bottle of new Cava from Spain, Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut. Sales clerk in Alko recommended to try this new cava, as it combines together grapes from worldwide favourites Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to traditional cava-grapes of Macabeo and Parellada.
Might write my thoughts afterward to the blog, or if the wine is excellent – first fill my own wine cabinet, before giving hints and suggestions to others.
